Scrap the Boys: November Challenge

Hi!  It's been a while.  And I must say I haven't been scrapping much at all.  Life has just been rather busy!  So I thought I would sit down this afternoon and have a go at the November challenge over at Scrap the Boys.  The challenge is "man's best friend".  I had a photo of my son and our dog that I've wanted to scrap for a while... it's not the best photo, but it conveys the story.  So here it is:
This was a super quick layout using mainly Kaisercraft... no cool techniques or anything here.  But I like it :-)  Sometimes I think I can get a little too wrapped up in the new techniques and products and forget why I am scrapping... to tell the story.  This is a layout of my eldest son, Evan, and our dog Charli.  Evan has been diagnosed with ASD and can often have trouble communicating and relating to other people.  But he seems to have a connection with animals.  He is kind, gentle and loving to all creatures (great and small lol).  Our dog Charli, also seems to have a lovely connection with him.  She gets so excited when Evan heads towards the back door and then follows him around everywhere outside.  It's hard to see Ev struggle at school with his peers, but I love seeing him with Charli.  They really do have a special bond xoxox

That's about it from me.  I better go get some dinner started.  Head here if you would like to take part in the challenge or check out other talented scrappers takes on the challenge.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a terrific day!!!

Stuck?! September Sketch :-)

Good afternoon!  A super quick post before kinder pick up.  I had a friend over for a scrap sesh last week... but we did more laughing than scrapping :-)  BUT... today I finished the layout I never really started!  It's for a sketch from Stuck?!
Here is the sketch:
And here is my take on it:
Apologies for the crappy photo... it's just so much quicker and easier to take and upload on my phone :-)  I've rotated it clockwise and flipped it horizontally.  And I've used a HEAP of washi tape on here.  I have a decent collection now... but I must say it hasn't been used an awful lot.  Until now anyways lol
Sooo that's it from me.  Head over here if you want to check out the sketch and see some great takes on it.  Thanks heaps for stopping by and I hope you're having a fantastic day!!!

Scrap the Boys - August Challenge

Good afternoon!  This is going to be a super quick post before I pick up my eldest son from school... while his little brother is chilling in his favourite spot (on the couch watching telly).  So I had my beautiful friend come over Friday night to spend some quality time together crafting.  I haven't been overly crafty lately, so I thought I would do a challenge to get my mojo happening.  Scrap the Boys August challenge was to do a monochromatic layout and also use some twine and chipboard.  Now, I must admit, monochromatic really isn't my style... but I did have a browse at the DT's work and VOILA!  Inspired!!!  The very last layout by Michelle got me thinking.  I had just bought a new Clifford book for Royce... and it happened to have stickers in the back... and my little boy is such a great sharer.  So with the inspiration from Michelle's layout and a very cute photo of Royce with a picture of Clifford he drew at kinder I set to work!

I was slow starting.. but in only one evening this was the result:

Sorry about the photos... They're a bit dull as it's really crappy weather atm.  And the close up of my chipboard letters really don't do them justice :-)  These look AWESOME in real life, even if I do say so myself :-D  Very simple... red paint, glossy accents and black texta around the edges.

Well that's it from me.  I better get organised for school pick up!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a terrific day!

CAS(E) this Sketch

Good afternoon!!!  Well it's been a while!  Life has been happening :-)  I've done a little scrapping and card making here and there, but haven't shared.  And, every now and again, I've been on the net looking for inspiration... it can be a little addictive... and a little distracting lol.  Anyway, along the way I found a card challenge site.  CAS(E) this sketch.  CAS stands for Clean and Simple... gotta love that :-) The sketches are awesome!!!  I actually made a couple of cards a few weeks ago using sketch #37.  Loved how they turned out.  So I thought I would have a go at this week's sketch.

So here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:
Gorgeous!  Used up some of my scraps too.  I have heaps of scraps, so I'm definitely going to try and sit down and make a few more over the next day or so.  The simplicity of the sketch makes it so versatile... I already have a few more ideas up my sleeve ;-)

Well that's it from me today, as I have to head off shortly to pick up the youngest from kinder.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a beautiful day xoxox

Purple Pumpkin - June sketch

Hello!  Well I haven't had much of a chance for scrapping lately... plus I'm just not feeling it lol  But I did finally get one layout complete.  This uses the sketch for June over at Purple Pumpkin. I've rotated the sketch, but otherwise kept pretty close to the original.  This has been sitting on my desk since the start of the month.   I really liked this sketch and got stuck into it straight away... but I did the back ground and wasn't all that happy with it... don't you hate that!   I was very tempted to start over, but I persevered.   Ah well... it's done.  And I'm reasonably happy with the end result.

Well this will be short and sweet today! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a great day!

Life. Paper. Scrapbook. May sketch!

Good morning!  Thought l would quickly share the layout l completed using the latest sketch from Life. Paper. Scrapbook.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:
These photos of my boys and my beautiful friend were taken Christmas Eve. We all had a lovely evening making puddings and singing carols :-)  I've stuck to the sketch pretty closely, except for the number of photos.  I loved this sketch!  And think I may just use it again.  I really wanted to use one photo and cut it into four.  I really think this sketch would lend itself to that nicely... next time ;-)

So thank you for stopping by and head over here if you wish to have a closer look at the challenge... there are some amazing takes on this sketch!!!

Purple Pumpkin May Sketch

Good evening!   Well I finally have something to share.   I have just returned from a lovely weekend away scrapping with some lovely friends.  I managed to get eight layouts completed,  which is amazing... as mojo has been slightly lacking.  Although I am really wanting to stretch my creativity.  It's starting to feel like all my layouts are starting to look the same.  It's not that I don't like what I'm doing. .. it would just be nice to see a bit more variety. .. anyhow......
One layout l did complete was using the latest sketch over at Purple Pumpkin.  I've rotated the sketch and also flipped it, but have otherwise stuck to it fairly closely.  I have used the Scooby Doo button (for obvious reasons lol) and also the coordinated round.  These were perfect for my little fella, who is the biggest Scooby fan :-)
Look at my cutie pie!

Now... while I'm on the subject of Purple Pumpkin, I'm wondering... How do you store all your stuff???  I'm asking this because since returning from my weekend away I've decided my room is in serious need of some reorganisation.  It looks like a bomb site atm!!!  And NO, I am not posting a picture of it lol
Sooo... I thought now was the time to start since half my stuff was already 'out'.  First thing I decided to get into was my PP stash... which is rather large.  So it was all just stored in one of those gift boxes you get from the cheapy shops.  It was a rather large box, yet is was still bursting at the seems (everything was still in their packets).  So, I thought I might get all the buttons out and put them in a jar I had received from the retreat.  But I very quickly realised this jar would not be large enough.  Then I thought... a jar would be nice, but would not be very functional... so next I grabbed one of my drawer organiser things (everything in it tipped onto my desk... possibly not the smartest idea considering the huge mess already and it went totally against what I was aiming to achieve).  This was not very sturdy, but I thought it would do the job for now... I really am trying to cut back on spending... surely there are enough containers in my house to figure something out... right???
Sooo.... I tipped them all in this container and continued on... well by the end this container was also overflowing (the photo above was taken after I started reorganising again).  SOOO... I eventually came across one of those plastic container thingy-ma-jigs that have all the dividers in it.  It did contain some letters... that I had gotten when I VERY first started scrapping and hadn't looked at in like a billion years!!!  SO... they got put into the 'donate to kinder pizza box' and away I went sorting my buttons into categories.  Spots, patterns, animals, transport etcetera-etcetera-etcetera.  Once this was done, I was like, OH... the lid wasn't going to shut... BUT with a little tidying and even further sorting (hey may as well... I'd gone this far).......
TAA DAAAAAA!!!!
Now my PP buttons are beautifully organised!!!  When I'm scrapping these are always one of the first 'go to' embellishments, so I'm so happy they are now well organised... the only down side is that there isn't much room for many more though :-(  I'll just have to get scrapping hey!

OK, so that was a much longer post than what it was suppose to be, but I just had to share my little project for this evening.  Now to tackle the rest of the room... as Shaggy would say 'ZOINKS'!!!
Thank you for popping by... and if you want to check out the challenge and the DT examples head here.

LPS Colour Challenge #3

Well!  I finally sat down today and had a little play!  It's been awhile. ..  I decided to join in on the latest colour challenge over at Life.  Paper.  Scrapbook.
You can see my take on it below :-)

I thought the colours were perfect to document Evan's 100th day at school :-)  Hs loved dessing up as an old man and learning about numbers too!  I've used the badge he recieved as a title... that made it easy lol And I've also included the book he made on the day :-)  Too cute!  And yep, l almost think he could do 100 pizzas lol.  Well it's short and sweet today!  I'm uploading from my mobile, so hopefully it works ok... gosh technology is amazing these days.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a beautiful day xoxo
And head over to Life.  Paper. Scrapbook.  if you have a sec because there ia loads of inspiration! !!

Inspired Blueprints - Sketch #86

Hi!  A super quick post before I pick Royce up from kinder.  I found a very lovely sketch last week over at Inspired Blueprints.  So my friend and I sat down together to give it a go and try to motivate each other... well I finally finished it off today!

Here is the sketch:
Inspired Blueprints | Sketch 86

And my take on it:

Crappy photo... sorry :-/
I've stuck pretty closely to the sketch, just changing the number of photos really.  Look at my li'l cutie pie at kinder... speaking of kinder, better go pick him up!  Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a splendid day!

LPS Colour Challenge #1

Good afternoon!  It's so hot here at the moment... I should be cleaning, organising or at least doing something a little productive... but I'm not lol  I have been looking through old photos of my gorgeous boys instead :-)  They really are growing up way too fast for my liking.

Anyways, I have also uploaded the latest photos from my camera onto my computer!  Here is one of the latest layouts I have completed:

This is for the February Colour Challenge over at Life.Paper.Scrapbook.  This is a relatively new site I found via Leanne Allinson's blog... whom I've been following for yonks.  It's going to be an "online publication that is dedicated to showcasing designers from all around the world to inspire each other, explore current trends and techniques and most importantly to celebrate our love of scrapbooking and paper crafts".  They are also going to have monthly challenges!!!  Just look at the colour inspiration photo...
So cool!!!

So... I've used the Fine and Sunny collection from Kaisercraft which I bought a few weeks ago just because I thought is was so, ummm... Cheerful :-)  Yep, I think cheerful is the right word!  I don't think you could get a better matching range of papers for this challenge either.  And look... a boy layout with pink!!!  It took me YEARS to feel comfortable using flowers on my boy pages, I'm not sure if I've done any with pink before???  But I think I might again :-)  Well that's it from me today.  I really better go get something done!  Hope you're having a SUPER DUPER day and thanks for stopping by xoxo

ScrapFriends - Colour Palette Challenge Jan 2013

Well, well, well!  I really wanted to give the latest colour challenge over at ScrapFriends a go!  And I've done it!  It's been sitting on my desk half done for over a week.  And when I say half done, I actually mean photos chosen, trimmed and a selection of paper out of the stash lol.
OK...
Here is the inspirational photo:
Cool hey!

Here is my take on it:
Apologies for the really bad photo... night time and batteries for my super duper new flash were donated to Ninky Nonk

Sooo... Most of my green isn't quite the same as in the palette... but I kind of didn't look at the picture again before I started.  Oh well... it's still pretty bright lol.  Also, not as much white space as I would have liked, but you have to give me credit for getting a DOZEN photos onto a double page!  I'm really happy to have this page done... I find it SO hard to do the Christmas photos... just TOO many to choose from :-)  I really do need to start getting into off the page a bit more... maybe some mini-albums???

Well, I'm going to keep it short and sweet tonight as it is WAY past my bedtime.  Head over here if you would like to give this challenge a go or have a squiz at other entrants and of course the examples from the DT.  LOVE their examples!!!  Felicity Wilson's take... OMG!  AMAZING!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a beautiful day xoxox

Scrap the Boys... January Challenge!!!

SO!!!  I have finally finished a page!  I thought I would have heaps of time over the school holidays to scrap... but it really just hasn't happened.  I've been working extra shifts, which means I've been rather tired lately.  So if I haven't been busy with the boys, I've been in some kind of unkown zombie state lol... Oh well, with Christmas over and done with, Ev's birthday also passed (I can't believe he's 7 now!) and the Lego constructed, hopefully I will get my but into gear again.  I really haven't scrapped regularly for a while now... and I can blame my mojo... but I really think I'm just out of practice... yep scrapbooking is definitely an acquired skill here... no natural artistic ability to speak of AT ALL :-b

Ok, so here is the page--->

The challenge over at Scrap the Boys was to scrap your boys favourite holiday/summer activity.  Yep, like a lot of boys, my two LOOOVE water!!!  Any water, any time... doesn't even matter what the temperature is... the fun of the water trumps cold weather every time!  Love the colours in this layout!!!  Okeedokee so I'm going to make this shortish and sweet... my boys have been sitting in front of the telly for far too long on this beautiful day!!!  So head over here if you want to check out all the CT's amazing examples and join in the challenge!  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a SUPER day!
